PASSING ON THE TRAINING

There was a seminar in Kampala for the leaders of the Anglican church of Congo. It was organised by CMS/London. Participants were divided into two groups. One group included Bishops, diocesan secretaries and accountants of the Anglican church of Congo. They were taught leadership and management of the church income book keeping.

The second group was composed of the Bible schools teachers. They discussed how to improve the Bible school programme and were taught new methods of teaching in our bible schools. When we came back from Kampala, we invited all the staff members in order to pass on to them all the training received from Kampala, especially in the field of leadership and accountancy. Then, we organised a seminar for each of our parishes which included the following subjects:
1. Stewardship: we talked of different needs of a parish, different ways of getting money in a parish and how to motivate Christians from the Holy Scriptures to offer part of their goods to support God’s work.
2. Book keeping in a parish: participants were taught in how to manage church income.
3. Administration: this was about the main administrative documents in a parish and how to use them.

Participants of this seminar were all parish members, including evangelists, catechists and the church elders of parish. After this seminar, in each parish, pastors asked the diocese to organise another seminar for the parish accountants for training in book keeping.

This could improve the way of using money in our diocese. But we need money for this. In the area of Bible schools, participants from the Kampala seminar met to discuss how to improve the programme of teaching in our Bible schools. This was according to the needs of our parishes in our area.

We express our sincere thanks to CMS/London who organised this helpful seminar for us at Kampala. Its fruits have reached both all the staff members of our diocese and the Christians in their parishes. May God bless those who offered their time and their money to enable us to meet at Kampala.
